North Pike Science Olympiad Teams

The Science Olympiad competition consists of a team of seventeen students that compete in twenty-five events, ranging from life science to engineering. The Science Olympiad tournaments are rigorous academic interscholastic competitions that consist of a series of individual and team events, which students prepare for during the year. The competitions follow the format of popular board games, TV shows and athletic games. These challenging and motivational events are well balanced between the various science disciplines of biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, computers and technology. There is also a balance between events requiring knowledge of science facts, concepts, processes, skills and science applications.

Recently, the North Pike Middle and High School teams competed at the South Regional Competition in Natchez, MS. The NPMS team won 1st place overall and one of the NPHS teams won 3rd place overall. Together, all three teams received gold medals in 7 events, silver medals in 7 events, and bronze medals in 5 events. All three teams advance to the state competition at USM in Hattiesburg, MS on March 22nd.

North Pike Elementary recently celebrated the 100th day of school by dressing up as 100 year olds! Pictured are students from Mrs. Karen Smith's 1st grade class.
